Get More Efficient with People

Studies have shown that staff working in a dedicated production area will perform better and faster. They can set-up production runs more efficiently, reduce change-over times between shifts, better understand productive workflow and OTIF, and can perform product quality inspections for their area of control. Workers dedicated to an area of a production line are more likely to take ownership of it.

However, these staff shouldn’t be left behind in terms of annual appraisals and opportunities for self-development.

Results from a recent poll indicate that over 70%  of staff (and managers) working in industry do not get asked if they want or need any self-development or training for doing their job!

Engineering and manufacturing staff who work in a specific area of production often need less training to become efficient at what they do.

However, it is important to keep educating staff so they can train others and add more value to the company. It also helps to keep them feeling valued by their employers and motivated to do their job.

If you recruit young people, such as Apprentices, they too could help your production teams become more dynamic and see things from a new perspective.

If you would like independent guidance on how to introduce staff development for existing teams, and to introduce a new energy to your organisation at little or no cost, then email us direct at [email protected] or call us on 07966 315507 today!
